Default Studio Lighting

I'd like to set up a studio in my basement. Is there any way I can imitate "natural light" photography in a basement? Or must I use flash and strobes? Could I install several ceiling lights and lamps using special "day light" bulbs?

I have no clue about studio lighting etc, because I never fooled around with it, but I can't imagine having a studio without strobes etc. You probably will get all kinds of unwanted shadows etc.

Interesting question though. Will see what the others think.

Ginger, "natural light" covers a pretty broad spectrum. Morning, midday, late afternoon, overcast, shade, etc., and all somewhat different on the Kelvin scale. I personally don't think you can emulate any of that with a few ceiling lights...even using the daylight balanced lights. Natural overhead light is huge with pretty smooth transitions, like a big softbox in the sky. I think your best solution for indoor shooting will be strobes/flash, and continue to do your natural light shooting outdoors.

you can use ambient lighting in a basement and still shoot it... just with a camera with very good ISO and high ISO, and you'll need to shoot it in high ISO... but as for shooting people with this it'll be tough... but still objects or/and environmental you can easily with a low shutter.
