Default Soft-box vs LS

Anyone have any examples of using Lightsphere pointed "directly" at the subject off camera and soft-box for a speed-light. Just to see the comparison.

One of those gary fong things? You'll get considerably better results from a softbox.

I have both the Gary Fong universal lightsphere kit and his speed snoot thingy. I keep buying these things as new iterations of product come out based on Gary's demonstration videos but I have yet to be able to reproduce his results with any measure of success. Some people call his products "expensive tupperware" and I think they are about 75% correct.

You'd be better off looking at something like a Saber Strip. SaberStrip What Can I Do?

Its ok for in a pinch quick changing situations. The only time I had to use direct was outside with the dome curved out per the guide.. Was this one. http://bhursey.zenfolio.com/ryan_and_emilee/e32ff3cb0 It was ok I guess feels a little flat. Better than on camera flash or direct speed light flash.. Most of the time I leave to dome off mine and point it to the roof. so it also gets bounce from the ceiling while kicking some light forward. It is no where close to a soft box effect.. Well depends on what size soft-box..

I want a purple one then. Does it make the noise when you move it? I just think it's ridiculous.

Also, I would rather walk around with the LS then with a homemade cup with people asking what is that. It's not just for us, it's for the clients. For them bigger is better and better looking equipment takes better pictures.

OsmosisStudio - I want to see the difference, that's all.

Bhursey - You know, everyone sais it's flat an uninteresting, but I can tell you it saves you soo many times. I can take three times as many pictures while somebody is always adjusting to bounce the light off of something.

I love the look of that SaberStrip. I definitely need one now. Or two.
