Default DIY Softbox lighting!

Hey DPS,

Here is my plan -

I have this idea of making a soft box or two using LED christmas lights. I will make a bracket to set the lights in. Probably 1 in. Apart each. Then putting the bracket on the bottom of one of those roaster pans. Then Covering the top with a strechy white fabric I used for a backdrop. Then Putting a metal plate on the back for support.

What do you guys think?

My first concern would be that LEDs don't put out a lot of light.
...and you'd be wasting a perfectly good foil roasting pan.

Even 85 + in a 17 X 8 Pan? My Other Idea was 2 Large Ring lights. With Clustered LED lights. With the same general concept?

Which would work better if either worked? Or, How much would a large light /w Daylght bulb Cost?

humm, maybe because they aren't very bright to begin with and you compound the problem when you add a diffusion material.
But don't let my comments stop you, carry on! Could be totally awesome!!!

Or not.

There's a reason for that. Take the hint: your plan wont work.

If you're lighting small objects, like one of your Transformers (robots in disguise!) or maybe a few green army men, it may actually work well. So I won't be surprised if you pull it off. Good luck!

I will be using it to Eliminate Shadow from Portraits. No light Army men or Transformers.
