Default Things to check for in a used flash

I'm grabbing another 430EXII, and I was wondering what sort of things I should look out for in a used flash. The seller claims it's only been used several times in the course of two years. Who knows.

I own a 430EXII already so I can familiar with the functions if anyone wants to point out the important ones.

TIA.

For used flashes, I always fire them in concession about 3-4 times, then I smell them. If they are on the outs then tend to smell "burnt", is the best way to describe it.

If it cycles through all the flash settings, and it charges fine, you should be ok with it.

In 2 years, its hard to believe it was only fired 3 times or less, my definition of "a few". Talk to the seller and see what it was used for.
