Default Specific speedlight/ radio trigger question

I have a speedlight 430ex and a yn560 speedlight and a radio trigger set. my question is: can i trigger the 430ex with the radio trigger and have the flash from the 430ex trigger the second off camera flash (YN560)? or do i need to buy a second receiver for the second flash? Thanks, HW

No you will need a second trigger. The the 430 ex does not have a pc port so you can not use a cable. The 430ex also can not act as a master like the 580ex II in ttl flash setups. But even if the flash was a master you could not use it because the triggers are not ttl.

You should be able to trigger the 430ex with the wireless Rx and use the optical slave function on the 560 to fire it... but then you're relying on maintaining LoS and the range is going to be limited outdoors. Of course should go without saying you're going to use TTL if you rely on it... if not, not a problem.

Not sure which triggers you're using, but if you;re using RF602s or V4's its worth the extra few bucks to pick up an extra Rx.

Yes. You can use the radio slave, and have the 430EX trigger the YN560 via its optical slave, especially since you'll have the 430EX in Manual mode, anyway.

You will be limited by line-of-sight and range with an optical slave vs. a radio trigger, though, which is why most folks prefer having radio triggers for each of their strobes.
