Question D3000 - oil/shine in portraits

Hello
Can someone please help me.... I'm new to DSLRs. I recently purchased a Nikon D3000.
I want to know how I can reduce the oil and shine visible when I take portrait closeups, while maintaining the real beauty of the photo?

Thank you

maybe you can arrange so the model doesn't get direct harsh light from the front part of the subject. The shiny thing usually because of that kind of light.
Maybe you can post one example of the picture with that problem so we can see the problem better.

I've heard talcum powder works wonders (baby powder).

This from an old veteran portrait photographer, other interesting "gadgets" he keeps in his pocket:

Chap-stick, to increase shine on lips...
Clothes Pins, to keep clothes / hair where you want them (especially baggy clothes)

It is definitely WAY easier to reduce oil shine with a few dabs of powder before the shoot then trying to edit it out of 50 -100 images in post!
