You guys are awesome. You've given me a lot to think about...

As far as where I'll be shooting, probably some inside but mostly outdoors, not near outlets, chasing kids so needs to be very portable and manageable (probably similar to your environment, Susan). I have checked out Alienbees and strobist.com.. very helpful info there. I'm also just finishing reading "Understanding Exposure" and practicing some more with available light.

I'm taking a class with a local pro soon but for now I'm going to work with a reflector for a big and then jump into flash if I still feel pretty good with available light. Still feeling partial to the speedlite just because it seems convenient.. but I'm going to check out all the other suggestions first to make sure I choose the best for my needs! Keep the tips coming

Agreed, wish I could get AlienBees here in Holland, however, what do you do without AC power?
