Default Second Curtain Flash

Lately i have been seeing some pretty cool shots taken by people who are firing their flash on the second curtain... i tried to do this myself but for the life of me cannot figure out how to set it up in my options in the 450D some people have said u cant do it,, but i cant see that as the 350D does it.

any help would be appreciated.

Regards, Mike

Hi Mike, welcome to the DPS!

As I understand it, the 450D inherited its menu structure from the 400D, which just happened to be my first camera. Unfortunately, I don't have my manual handy, and although I use 2nd curtain sync regularly, I can't for the life of me remember how to set it on the 400D..

If you look through the setup menus, I'm pretty sure it's in one of the two "spanner" menus, whichever one deals with the flash - you'll also be able to set useful things in there, like flash exposure compensation and stuff.

I'll dig out the manual when I get home, unless you get a more concrete answer before then.

Cheers,

Russ.

It kinda does it.

Look at the 5th menu from the left. The bottom option is "Flash Control". You set the internal and external separately.

For an external flash you have to have a compatible flash connected. There is no other way to do it.

I use a setup similar to this to get me high speed sync off camera. You will have to do the same if you want second curtain sync off-camera.

I **think** any of the canon ex series flashes will work. I keep waiting for one to show up cheap on craigslist to try it.
