Default Help me DPS friends...you're my only hope!

Seriously...this is as dire as Leia's situation. Bwaha...jk. No, I've just been hired to come take pictures at a play in Salt Lake, and take cast photos at the end. I'm not terribly concerned about the cast photos but the pictures during the play. Does anybody have ANY tips for me? As a hired photog do I get to move around or do I stay planted in one place? Anything you've got for me is great!

I would certainly move around, especially as a hired photographer. See if you can attend a repetition, so that you're familiar with the play. Then you know where and when the interesting action takes place, and can start thinking about where you want to be to capture it. Also see if you can include some photos of the audience.

What camera will you be using?

Independent of the camera, I would add something longer to the mix. That lens is great if you can get close or want to give an overview. However, something around the 200-300mm range would be great to capture some facial expressions. That would also give people photos in detail that they couldn't have seen from the audience, giving your photos an extra edge.
