Fixed. Yeah. Right. That's what BP said.

Why not do it right to begin with?

Default The Joe Demb flash products

I use the Joe Demb Flash Diffuser Pro on either my 550ex to 420EX flashes. The adjustable angle of the refector allows the flash to be "bounced" when there is nothing off which to bounce it.

The DFD provides a very soft light source which looks like available light. See this image of the tee-shirt artist in an open market in Yangshuo, China.

And this image of a taffy-puller in the same, open air market

However, if you plan to shoot at the distance which most graduation ceremonies require, I would probably shoot straight on flash - boosting my ISO as far as my camera will allow and use a relatively slow shutter speed (however, probably not slower than 1/60 or 1/125 second in order to stop the realtively slow action in most graduation ceremonies) along with a wide aperture in aperture priority exposure mode. This will allow some detail lit by available light with the flash as basically a fill.

I agree with peperita. Use a difuser only if you have a white roof, then you will have a very soft shadow with a very nice light. but if you don't have a white roof use a direct flash.
