That camera and that lens and you don't know what you are doing???OMG

Set your camera to AV (dial on the left holding the camera as though you are going to shoot, On the right look for the ISO control, make it 640 just for fun (if you wobble that should help). Set your Aperture to 2.8 (you can change this to give yourself a little more dof. Let the camera decide the shutter speed and leave the TC at home, put your self behind the goal facing away from the sun (to avoid lens flare) wait for the action to come to you so you don't need the extra pull of the TC.

My 2cents! Get yourself a basic SLR book, it doesn't even need to be digital. My first was back in the eighties written by Michael Freeman (I think) would maybe cost $2 in a second hand shop these days but there are heaps out there.

Huh? Going from f/2.8 to f/5.6 is two stops, not one.
