Default Wedding pictures in full sun

I was soo hoping for an overcast day today *le sigh*.

I am doing some wedding photos today and there's not a cloud in the sky!

The shoot is at 4pm.

So I'm wondering how should I position the couple? And by that I mean, in the shade? Or with the sun behind them (+ fill flash)... is there a good angle where they won't be squinting?

Right now I'm thinking about just using a shady area with flash.

you're on the right track....and you'll be wearing out that flash today.....

for the portraits, scout out the shady spots and position your couple against a green backdrop...with the sun behind you.....and yes, fill flash.....

for the ceremony it gets trickier....since you can't just yell cut and reposition everyone......before the service begins, get out there and scope out the best angle that will have the action clear of obstruction....i really wouldn't advise shooting with the sun behind them as you'll get a lot of pesky flares that could obscure part of the scene...i found if i had the sun over one of my shoulders, there wasn't a whole lot of squinting.....and yes, fill flash....

oh, oh oh!......make sure you have your lens hood on.....

i've shot two weddings on sunny days and neither one was fun.....

Thanks a lot!

The ceremony isn't today, just the wedding photos - so I'm pretty relieved about that!

oh, good.....then it's a snap......i did a portrait session just last week like that......i set them in the shade with a nice fully green background......keeping my eye out for bright bits back there.....set a nice large white reflector against my legs aiming light up at their faces from below, and hit them with fill.....the shade made them a tad cool, so i under exposed for the scene and pumped my flash til it's "daylight temp" over-rode the natural blues that wanted to set in on their skin.....

Thanks for bringin up this topic.!
I am about to leap into getting an off camera flash to practice for my goddaughters upcoming night wedding on New Years Eve.
Its a tough one for me as I have spent the first three years of my photog love shooting outdoors using polorizers and hoods;so for me this is like entering into a land unknown.
Im currently shooting with a Canon Rebel XTI .
Any hints, equip recommendations etc are so appreciated
PS I am not the main photographer. I am hoping to capture all those other moments.
