Default First Beach photo shoot

So in two weeks I have my first beach photoshoot with two little boys. We had to book it for around 10 am, is this time going to be horrible with lighting? I am hoping we are done by time the real harsh lighting comes about, but the mother wants to work around naps. Any advice to make it work?

TIA!

The lighting will likely be quite harsh. If you can, I would get a large scrim, a white sheet stretched on a background stand would do, that can block the direct sunlight and put your subjects in a more controllable light. Then build back the look you want with your lighting gear. That way, you still have the nice background, but without the harsh shadows.

Just was at the beach yesterday to shoot my sons. Unfortunately, we got there at a not-so-good time for lighting. I was able to manage although it was difficult and I'm not totally proud of the shots. Another thing to be aware of is the sun in your subjects' eyes. They can't open their eyes all of the way when looking into the sun.

It's a challenge for sure.
