Default How often do you use flash during day light?

I'm just wondering how often do people use their flash during day light. I some times find that I need to up flash at least 60% of the time during day light because of shadows.

For me, not nearly that often but if your images are coming out the way you like then no worries. When you can, you might want to move your subject out of direct sunlight, then the shadows won't be as much of a problem and your light will be softer and more diffused. Good luck and have fun!

If a portrait is involved, I'll use a flash very often. But for landscape or nature work, not nearly as much. It depends on the subjects and distances involved.

Probably 80% of the time for outdoor shoots - I love shooting into the sun

I was at my favorite botanical garden the other day checking out what was in bloom. It was late in the day so the light was wonderful, with dappled patches here and there and a golden hue. I saw a man with a little point and shoot using his flash for every shot. I asked him if it was possible for him to turn the flash off. "Yes," he said, "I just like the way the flash lights the flowers on macro shots." I was dumbfounded, and told him so. "Why would you be using the flash when you have all this wonderful light around you." I pointed to a flower near him, bathed in sunlight whilte everything around it was in shadow, but he looked away, indicating that he heard me, but he wasn't going to be making any changes to his system.

On camera flash has a tendency to flatten images, which is why I thought it so crazy that he would be using it on flowers. By the same token, it can be a lifesaver when shooting portaits, using daylight as either fill or main light. I don't use it often, but knowing how, and, perhaps more importantly, when to use it in daylight is a very handy skill to have in your back pocket.
