Default newbie help needed


hello this is my first post.i don't know where to put this.
i used cannon as1000 to take this photograph.can you suggest which settings to use to avoid those lines coming out from the lamp and the moon.
or is there something wrong with my camera lens.

Looks like lens flare. Typically, this is the result of a poor quality lens. As you have a point and shoot camera, and thus, cannot change lenses, there is nothing you can do.

Is the lens clean? That is very important. It sounds like this is a point/shoot camera so you can't change to a better lens. On a dslr, the most important thing is to make sure that A) the lens is clean. and B) That if you keep a UV filter on your lens... you take it off.
