I'm a beginner, who would like to experiment with lighting. I'm much to poor to buy some flashes (speedlights, strobes?) I had an old one from the 70's (or so) from my dad's pentax camera, but sadly, it doesn't work... surprise? not really. I was going to try to use some desk lamps with some bright lights (I'm hoping they have white lights..) and blah blah blah... Anyway my real question is, how can I get this effect? http://www.digitalphotopro.com/image...-apr/cover.jpg I know it'll be nearly impossible to do it with desk lamps, but I can try.
I was thinking they used flashes with those colored gels? but I'm sure you get that effect in concerts with those colored lights? which one could it be? o.o ------------------- Also if I were to buy a flash, what is a good cheap one? My definition of cheap is $20 ha! I'm terrible, but I'm not a professional, I'm just a hobbyist as of now. I saw this one.. 2 out of 3 good reviews... http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...nual_Shoe.html Last edited by xomissjaye; 03-15-2010 at 12:50 PM. |

Well, I know this isn't exactly what you're looking for, but perhaps it'll help some. I did a simple search on flickr to see what would come up & the first thing that did was this. The next pic in their photostream shows how they accomplished this look. Actually, you might do well to search for "ghetto lighting"... it's the most used term for lighting without paying big bucks for your equipment.

Wow I'm awful stupid, I should have looked there -.- That did help me a lot, and I also found this Psychedelic Colors on Flickr - Photo Sharing! She used lights from Ipods! Why didn't I think of that? >.< haha Thanks so much for your help! Much appreciated!
