Speedring Removal - Help!

Hi,

I'm trying to store my Elinchrom BXRi strobe, but for the life of me, I cannot get the speedring off. The strobe has been moved to the "unlock" position so I can turn the speed ring, but it will just turn the portion that attaches to the softbox and not the speed ring itself. I also know that I am turning it the right way since I can see the 3 hooks that the speedring attaches to the strobe.

Is there any trick to this? Any help will be appreciated.
