wanting to purchase a light meter but with so many out there, I'm not sure where to start?....I have some strobe lights that I will be using and was advised that there are certain light meters that are specific to strobes?....I've seen several of them on ebay, any suggestions on brands, models, etc?.....

I've been wondering the same thing. I know I'll want one that does both flash and ambient light but I don't want to spend a fortune either.

I have a Sekonic L 358 and I love it. The old Minolta Auto IV was an EXCELLENT film meter, but it reads in 1/10th stops instead of 1/3rd like we need in digital. Yes one CAN convert, but newbies have enough things to worry about without adding converting f stops from tenths to thirds.
If I were going to buy a new meter I would strongly consider the Kenko KMF 1100. Kenko bought out Minolta and the KMF 1100 is identical to the Minolta Auto IV except it will read in 1/3rd stops. Benji |
