I have been having problems with my nikon D60 built in flash and after being quoted £140 to get it repaired I have decided to invest in a Flash Gun instead.
Does anyone have an suggestions on flash units on a budget? Preferably under £100 but upto £150. This will be my first venture into using a flash that isnt built into the camera, so any advice will be much appreciated. My local camera shop has the Nissin Di622 and Metz 36 AF-4 Flashgun in my price range. Does anyone have an experience with either of these? Thank you in advanced, Kind Regards Craig

No experience with any of those, but Metz makes good units.
BTW, this is likely the issue with your D60

Yes...these come up frequently on ebay, typically selling for anywhere from $80 - $150 US, depending on the auction and condition of the flash. The SB-26 is especially popular because it also has optical slave capability built into the unit.

If you're going to go for an all-manual SB-26 with optical slave, you may as well look for a new LumoPro LP120. Roughly the same price, but with the added bonus of a 2-year warranty and return policy, and minijack sync port. Not sure where you can find them in the UK, but cameratools.nl carries them for €109.
