Default Dust and smog help

Hey,

I live in Cairo, Egypt - which is naturally a very dusty and smoggy place. I find that it makes a lot of my landscape shots look very soft and can be a real pain especially around dawn/dusk.
Does anyone have any tips on how to compensate?

Cheers,

Pete

There really isnt much you can do in that kind of environment.

Yeah... it's a real pain. Your best bet may be to try to use it to your advantage -- perhaps use the sand/smog to make a "misty" landscape or cityscape shot. If you can get bands of dust, especially with the sun hilighting them, that could be cool too. Otherwise... good luck!

Ah ok, fair enough then.

Cheers all, I'll have a play and no doubt put the results up in the critique section.

Smoky and dusty can also be a source of a good image, if it elicits human interest. Check out the winners of the Canon and Nikon competitions about 10 to 12 years ago and some of those winners were in smoky and dusty environments. I think one winner stands out as being in China, where everything is smoggy... as we learned in the Olympics.
