Carl, Love it! I especially think the foreground is excellent...love the look of the water fading from the clear to dar....the reflection is real nice and even though the sides of the frame have different types of landscape it still seems to balance the entire shot in my eyes. I think the Tall narrow area of landscape on the right equals the amount of lower but wider landscape on the left. Very nice shot...but then again I dont recall one of yours that isn't a great shot!

The size is just a touch over because of that white border (640px wide compared to 600px) but I think I can let that pass for once

Gorgeous picture - the only thing I might be tempted to change is the small white smudge about halfway across. I think it is a star in the sky, reflected in the lake, but it looks like a bit of lint on the image.

I must get round to trying some of this long exposure work myself (although I've got a bunch of pictures backed up from the weekend, so it might be a few days before I take any more shots at all!).

Awesome shot. Great work. Thanks for posting this one. I have never tried long exposures but a photo like this makes me want to try.

Great shot!!! may i know your thoughts going into setting up to take this picture?

like why

- an aperture of 6.3?
- auto wb?
- -1 exposure bias? i mean could it have been 0, and exposed like 1 second more?

thank you!

an aperture of 6.3? why not?

auto wb? i have no idea how to set a custom wb in the pitch black of night.

1 exposure bias? i just forgot to set it back to zero, as i always leave it at -1 during the day.

please forgive my answers to your questions if they sound informative. you seem more knowledgeable than i do. please can you tell me what better settings i should of used. thanks.
regards carl.

It looks as if you were almost ground level. Did you have a mini tripos that you setup on or did you suse a log or a rock? It's an incedible shot. If I took something like that, I would spend some money to get a professional print and get it framed. I like the signature touch in the corner. It looks classy and professional.
