Hi all,

I wish I had more time to participate online here, I have had many deadlines to meet over the last few months, hopefully things will settle down. I finished writing an article for my blog and posted it yesterday, it tells of the journey we made to Mt Kailash to photograph the Milky Way over the peak in September.

Here is the link:

Kailash

Please feel free to make any comments or ask any questions there and I will be happy to reply..

Best wishes from SW China...

Beautiful! I've never seen the Milky Way captured behind an Earth object like that. I'd love to hear how you created that photo.

Thanks for the comment, here is the full story, it is quite long, but it does tell how the images were captured, plus a lot more images...

That's quite the shot. Would certainly make a great large-format poster!

Really nice set of images you put together in photoshop. IF you go into the channels and click on Blue channel, you notice thin white pixulated lines separating the foreground, mountain and sky. I count three separate images layered together to make one image.
One way to check for over manipulation is to open the photo in Lab Color, and go into the "b" channel. Blowing the photo up at least 200% or more, take a look and see what the patterns on areas of interest look like. Usually, overmanipulated areas can show quite apparently in the "b"
channel.

And yes, you have some truly great images. Great work! Me, being a photojournalist shooting for publications, I cannot build images.
