Default Question about shooting architecture

Across town, there is a beautiful church that has amazing architecture. I really want to shoot it. Being new to photography, I would love any general tips or suggestions anyone might have that would help me really capture the beauty of this building. If there is already an article or forum post on this I would appreciate a link to it.

Thanks for any help you can give

if you have a camera that supports RAW format shoot it in that. and if you don't know what RAW is or how to use it shoot RAW+JPEG fine. you'll love it when you know how to use it.

use a tripod. think about the time of day. do you want a sunrise, sunset, night photo, a normal day photo? if your going the latter, still best to shoot it at the start or the end of the day, prevents big black ugly harsh shadows. =]*

Maybe more from a legal aspect: ask the clergy involved for permission and have them sign off on a property release. This way you can still use the image commercially afterwards.

Thanks guys. I can shoot RAW, although I never have. I'll read up on that. And I already have a call into the church offices to ask permission. Just waiting on a call back.
