Default Mountain hiking at sunset

I was out & about again in the North Wales mountains yesterday & although the sun was a little hazy & the light levels were getting quite low took a few shots - would appreciate feedback on these, do they work for you ?

thanks

simon

I'd suggest to increase the exposure

I'm not so sure. The first one doesn't do much for me, but I really like the second one. Any more exposure on it and the highlight detail in the clouds would be blown. It's not like you're losing shadow detail either.

On the composition side: good job not putting the horizon smack dab in the middle of the frame! I always try to do some with the horizon near the top and bottom just to see the difference.

It definitely conveys a good sense of the size of the place, but it's hard to put my finger on why.

Thanks for the feedback guys..

To be honest I'm very much a "get it right in-camera" photographer & these were taken in the sort of lighting I normally avoid - if it had been a "phot-taking" day I wouldn't have shot these.

However I was just on my way back down from the mountain top & thought I'd give them a go anyway, the scenery looked pretty amazing by-eye but as often happens the camera couldn't do it justice. I've had to do quite a lot of PP as the originals are not exactly great, these are 2 combined RAW conversions.

I've posted these on my website but only until something better comes along

thanks again for the feedback

simon

i like the house in the first one because it really gives a sense of scale to the scene. the second one's great, but could use a boost in saturation.

I didnt even notice the house until you mentioned it....gives a sense of area to the photo and a god photo too.
The second is a great photo but like mdwsta4 said a boost of sat. and maybe a bit of adjusting the highlights and shadows....

Simon
These look a little soft my friend, probably due to haze rather than focus. Nice images but I don't get any sense of scale from them.
