Default How to retouch this pano?

Hey everyone,

I just took this panorama this morning and am a bit dissappointed. Although i did take multiple panos they all look blurry like this in the middle, I assume from the exposure due to the sun. What is the best way to go about fixing this and what would u do in the picture taking process to avoid the problem all together? Sorry if the quality is not great because i had to compress it into a jpeg.

Thanks

I see nothing wrong with it, to be honest. Yes, there's a bit of contrast loss in the centre due to the sun, but it's not bad. The image itself is quite nice, if a bit plain.

You could treat the center portion of the picture separately from the rest of the panorama. Just adjust it's contrast and exposure to match that of the other pictures before stitching it all together. About halfway between the sun and the right side of the picture, there are visible signs of stitching. You might want to consider cleaning this up (though adjusting the contrast of the center piece prior to stitching should help reduce this). After that, boost the overall contrast and up the saturation a bit. If possible, adjust the exposure/brightness on the land to increase details. Then, align the horizon. Lastly, after you resize to the final size, sharpen it.

As for reducing the blur effect when making panoramas, try taking landscape shots on each side of the sun with a hood (without actually having the sun in them). This might help a bit with the contrast/blur. When I make panoramas, I tend to take pictures with quite a bit of overlap between them and I've never had trouble with having an uncontrasty/soft center. If you adjust the contrast/lightness properly in post processing, there won't be a noticeable difference in sharpness after you've resized and sharpened.

Hope this helped . Got to get to work now >>

Do you mean that weird shadow-ghosting down in the reeds? I'd recommend trying to correct the images for vignetting before you stitch. But it may not be fixable. Reshooting may be your only recourse.
