Thanks for the comments Fog.
I wasnt sure about this pic at first but the more i look at it the more I begin to like it.
I think I am rather too critical of my photography and find it hard to like anything.
I am looking for that wow factor that will allow me to frame it on the wall.
As yet, I dont think I have found it but Im still working on it.
In the mean time, this takes me a little closer.

Carl

Carl it comes in time the being critical of your own work is the start I know I "throw away" many pics before I am happy some I sit and leave and come back to to see if I change my mind ... my best critic is my partner and the people here to be honest ... if you are looking for wall art try something more simple as even though the pic is nice it would be better as a painting for wall art .. I love the more simple ones blown up for walls or I paint the ones I like landscapes wise (teachiong myself that bit too) ... Keep up the good work though you will learn LOTS here I know my photography has moved from snap happy to thoughfull in the few months I have been here ... and that is thanks to the guys here the tutorials ideas and inspiration that their posts give are amazing ...

Hi Carl!

Great composition and a beautiful place! Only comment I might have is it appears a bit out of focus, or more likely, the camera is focused on the front/right tree and there is a depth of field issue. Not quite sure. What is the EXIF data (aperture specifically) and did you use a tripod?

Nice shot!

Nice shot!

I have noticed that when I reduce the picture size to something more suitable for this forum that the images are looking blurred and lacking in detail.
Im not sure if its the software I use to compress them.
This picture looks awfull on here yet is pretty clear and sharp on the original as best I can tell.
I have now uploaded it to FlickR and attached a new one here.
Let me know if this one looks better to you.
I took the picture without a tripod as the light was good and I had good shutter speeds.
Exif as follows:-

F/16
1/80s
ISO125
Using 17-85 lenses @ 22mm
I believe from memory that I focused on somewhere near the end of the pond or the bushes at the end, cant remember which now.
