Default Dead tree standing

I thought i would share these 2 different shots of the same tree that i have wanted to shot for some time. Even though i took a lot of shots of this tree at different angles and time during the sunset i still haven't got the shot i want. So i'll be going back at different times and try different things until i'm happy. Some thoughts on what i could try would be welcomed

Certainly an interesting subject and I can see why it was on yr to do list . They are both awesome images but something about the B&W in the frst really suits the mood of the tree and the grey sky adds a certain tone , nice work .

I really like the second one. Very nice sky. You might try getting just a little closer to the tree, to let it fill a bit more of the frame (and be a bit more prominent). Also, are you using a graduated ND filter? Your exposure seems pretty good overall.

There is something haunting in the first pic like the tree is waiting for a happening. I love that one. Though a nice pic in the second on I feel my eyes are pulled to the sunset and not he tree. Great work.

bradzon66, thanks for your comments. I keep wanting to go back to it , but i'm waiting for the right cloud and weather conditions to try to get something different.

dcclark, Yes i did use grd filter and i'll keep your comments in mind when taking future shots, thanks.

Pojo, thats what i see, it's like it has an arm that wants to reach out and grab you

Jim, thanks for the compliment. It means for me that at least i'm heading in the right direction while learning to take landscape shots.
