Default A View from Hydra

Hydra, Greece

This was a beautiful day but a bit hazy off the coast. I knew I wanted the flowers in the foreground to be clear as well as the boat and background. The sky and ocean seem to almost merge as was the case in reality but should I have skipped the flowers and just gone for the sea view??? I like them but do you feel they are more distracting or add to the over all photo. This is one of my biggest dilemas in landscapes, ( what goes in what goes out) or is it just a personal preference??

P.S.
I don't usually post a lot but I learn a lot from looking and reading. Thanks to everyone of all levels.

There is a school of thought that says you want to have foreground, midground and background subjects in a landscape in order to create a sense of depth. But I am not sure that flowers are the right foreground subject here -- I think that it varies too much from the ocean/sailboat theme.

Thanks for the info. This was spring in Greece and the flowers were abundant everywhere. I think that is one reason I took it, it seemed like an odd but pretty combo.
