Also think it's a bit sad that they are building a multi story building in from of the walk to add dining, shopping and such. I just think it takes away from the grand beauty and peacefulness of the canyon. That is wy I like the Valley Of Fire so much, you can drive there and it is quiet and so beautiful.
Valley of the Fire is a great place to visit. When I was there it wasn't crowded either.

wish I could remember the exact location of the trail Itook down into the canyon. I'm going back in march to really get some good shots. I wasnt into photography when I went the first time. When you go its almost a lost cause if you dont try and go down a few hundred meters and shoot from there.
I was amazed when I first looked out over it but after hiking down 1250 meters I was in awe and wished everyone I knew could see what I was seeing.
Im so anxious to get back there in march!

Thanks everyone! We will be going to the North Rim, but only for one day. We are also going to Zion & Bryce Park, Antelope Canyon, Grand Escalante Staircase, and other beautiful places. We (my sister & I) have been researching everything we can find! I guess I just want my photos to come out "great" that I'm over thinking everything.

I'm not a good candidate for the skywalk......scared of heights and vertigo.....yeah, I'm a weenie!!!!! But I would LOVE to do the helicopter no doubt, but money & time issues there. We are still looking at that option though.

harrypalmer......I looked at your photos and they are great! I am soooo excited about going!!!

If anyone else has any tips for the Grand Canyon or any of the other places, please feel free to share!!!!

We are basically doing the same trip - we are going at the end of May! I've also heard to check out Coral Dunes State Park.

Here is some information that I had saved about good hikes and overlooks at the North Rim.
Hike the North Kaibab Trail at least as far as the Coconino Overlook but try for the Supai Tunnel if you are in reasonable condition - 4 miles RT, with 1400 feet of elevaton loss (and gain).

If you do make it to Supai Tunnel, take the extra minutes and go thru the tunnel to the other side. The views are out of this world.

Other spectacular overlooks are along the road running from the Lodge to Cape Royal and Cape Final. From these two spots, you can see a great deal of the main canyon and even glimpse the Colorado River. There are also some short walks available from the overlooks that dot the road on the Walhalla Plateau. Don't miss the Cape Final and Cape Royal overlooks at the end of this road. Spectacular, especially at sunrise or sunset.

would have to recommend the Widforss Trail. The trail is long, but we only hiked the first mile, and we got great views of the canyon through the ponderosa pine trees - my favorite trail! Also, drive up the Cape Royal road stopping at Point Imperial, Wahalla Overlook, and Angel's Window, they all have great views! Go back to the lodge and sit on the rocking chairs at sunset. The views while the sun is shining on the canyon is great.
For Bryce Canyon - from what I've read it is one of the darkest places in the U.S., and you can see a lot of stars, so try to get some shots after the sun goes down.

Have fun!
