(I posted this in the "Other Techniques" forum yesterday but no replies yet, so trying here instead.)
There was a fantastic sunrise this morning, so I dashed outside with my new camera (Christmas present - Panasonic Lumix FZ28) and started snapping. I just used Landscape mode as I didn't know the best way to do it, and although the colours have come out quite nice, they're definitely not the best photos. Could anyone offer any tips please? Thanks. ETA Sorry, meant to add my flickr stream link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/diddlum/ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

You could saturate them a bit in Photoshop or what ever image management program you are currently using. Otherwise, they are nice for a starter. Keep clicking away

I love the colors and the cloud formations. Great work. In the future, try to include something of interest in the foreground -- trees, water, beach, whatever is there to add context to the scene. Shots of pretty skies are nice, but rarely able to stand on their own.

have you considered taking hdr shots for these cloud formations? just take one shot that is -1EV, a shot at base, then the last one at +1EV and mush them altogether. usually comes out with great contrasty results.
