I tried some different crops: this is based on rule of thirds with the sun in the top right intersection. This pic is a bit on the dark side, but I'm not so good at playing with that.

This is also based on rule of thirds, using the horizon line on the lower third line and the interesting divide between the dark cloudy rainy side and the brighter side on the right third line.

This one I made panoramic with the horizon line on a third line, but the divide just off centre to include as much of the weather as possible.

I like this pic, with its contrast between the rain and the bright side! I'm not sure if my crops lost too much of the blue sky?

ya thats awesome i really like the 2nd pic panoramic view! so I'm not familiar with the rule of thirds theory? but your saying if theres 3 stand out or primary parts to a pic,i should allow if possible a equal amount of space ? to view? i can see that my pic takes much of the weather clouds away? with showing to much water ? is that how you viewed it? and thanks !

The rule of thirds is actually quite simple.

Basically: Draw vertical lines to divide the image into 3 identical sections. Draw horizontal lines to divide the image into 3 identical sections horizontally.

You'll end up with a perfect tic-tac-toe board. The theory is that the important elements (the main subject) should lie either ON one of the lines or at one of the intersections of those lines.
