Photographing Alaskan Landscapes

Hello and Happy New Year to all! As this is my first post I am looking forward to your replies. My wife and I are going on an Alaskan Cruise in June and we want to capture some good photographs. What advice can anyone offer on how to capture landscapes and wildlife in the land of the midnight sun? Are there books or articles you might suggest. Any help is appreciated. I have a Canon 40D camera.

Well, since you want to get 2 different kinds of subjects, youre going to need 2 different kinds of lenses.

For the landscapes, youre gonna want to use something wideangle. Canon makes an excellent ultrawide for it's crop bodies: the 10-22.

For wildlife, youre likely going to want something longer, like 200mm+. In that case, youve got seveal options, depending on your budget and such.
