Welcome

Does the yellow show up in every picture or just sunset?

Regarding your pictures: Sunsets are interesting to capture because the light changes so quickly. Each picture was taken at a different time, exposure, angle and focal length.

The cloud formation in the first one is thinner and would let more light through. It was also taken when the light was brighter and at a longer exposure which could result in the brighter yellow.

The second was taken to the left of the sun where the clouds are thicker. The faster shutter speed would also limit the light and the result would be the blueish purple clouds.

Hope this helps
Audra

Hi, All sets and rises. These are the latter. I don't mind the yellow after a month or so when the rise/set is no longer in my memory.

your camera sees things a bit differently than your eye does. i'm guessing the yellow is from the sun.

take this picture for example:

From DPS

EXIF
Model: Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XTi
ISO: 100
Exposure: 1/2 sec
Aperture: f/7.1
Focal Length: 18mm

it was basically completely dark when i took this picture. i don't remember seeing any of that orange or yellow in the sky but i took the picture anyway. the shutter was open for 1/2 second. the camera picked up a lot more colors than i saw and i'm glad it did. i've read a few articles where they tell you to stay after the sun sets to take more pictures because your camera will get a lot more colors out of the sky. that's the only reason i was even out there trying to take the picture hehe.
