Default The Cloudscraper

One of the many peaks of Western Ghats in the southern state of Kerala in India.

Is the exposure right?

I think the exposure is a little too dark. The bright areas of the sky look great, but the mountains lack detail. A ND gradient filter could have given you a better exposure.

Hey UVS, nice shot (wish i was with you there).
If you don't mind, i have adjusted your nice shot a little (added contrast, enhanced colours and other small focus pokus).
Once again - nice shot.

As others have noted its a bit dark. Did you shoot in RAW as if you did I bet you can get loads of detail out of the mountains and come up with a decent shot.

Thanks for the comments sybren. I had a feeling that the exposure wasn't quite right. Appreciate your suggestion.

Smile Next time try HDR process

You might already know this, but if you shot this HDR, you would have a fabulous shot with detail all over the place. If you are not up on this, google HDR and you will be hooked on a very cool technique.

High dynamic range imaging (HDRI or just HDR) is a set of techniques that allows a greater dynamic range of luminances between light and dark areas of a scene than normal digital imaging techniques. The intention of HDRI is to accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes ranging from direct sunlight to shadows.

Good Luck

Thanks, JM. I haven't tried HDR yet but feel encouraged to.

Yep bit too dark but as you can see the information is there. You just gotta dig it out. Which isn't all that hard if you have the right tools. I wouldn't go as far with the adjustments as Wombat did though.

And you don't necessarily need RAW for a great image. Sure with RAW you can get better results but you can even adjust this compressed jpg and get it to look fairly good... but yea better continue shooting in RAW.

...Wish I had access to scenes like that.
