And I'm new to digital SLR. I struggled as to what picture I wanted to post first for feedback. This is my first posting.
This photo was taken at my cottage in the St. Lawrence. Fog is rare in this area, so I ran out and when camera crazy in the early morning. I did do some photo enhancement....added a little "red" to the picture but that's all. But I'm more interested in commentary on the composition itself. Is this an interesting picture or just ho-hum? Please feel free to be brutal. I'll only learn if you're all honest! http://s389.photobucket.com/albums/o...t=P9010444.jpg Also - I'm still learning how to post pictures...I'm not sure if I've done this correctly Thanks! |

hi, and welcome to DPS
I really like the colours and the lines, but would like to see a bit more of the detail come out in the shadow area.Your link has worked, but I thought it might help to mention that it's been discussed in another thread that many people (myself included) sometimes skip past the posts where the photo is linked, rather than embedded in the actual post. Most of the time I'll look under 'new posts', click on a dozen or so titles that look like they could be interesting, and then flip through them. If there is a post with a link rather than an embedded photo, I generally don't want to click on it as it opens up a new tab which gets lost amongst all the other tabs I have open, and also because I want instant gratification Check out this thread for more info:Posting Pictures from Photo Sharing Sites (A visual guide) But nice job, that's just the kind of photo I love. Look forward to seeing more of your work! |

And thanks for the feedback. I know it doesn't compare to half what I've seen on this site, but we all gotta learn. Thanks for taking the time Cheers! |

Welcome to DPS!! Your photo has a real sense of tranquility that draws me in. I am not a landscape photographer, so take what I have to say with a grain of salt. I would really like to see more of that bench on the right of the photo. I think that bench could make a really nice focal point and add a lot of interest. Also, I think you should move in a little closer so that you don't see two different levels of deck. But overall, I like your shot and the peaceful feeling it gives me. I hope you enjoy dps!

Hi,
Nice photo - I like the colours and lines of the deck. I might have framed it a touch higher and perhaps a little to the right so the deck that runs right across the bottom isn't so prevalent. I'd maybe have the diagonal leading line of the deck beginning in the bottom left corner - but that's only my opinion. Over all I like the photo very much. To post an image, you need to insert the image address into IMG tags. Just open an IMG tag, insert the image URL, then close the IMG tag, remembering to use the / in the closing tag. I hope that helps.
