Default Foggy evening at the park

It has been very foggy here the past few days and I always wanted to try to get one of those cool foggy shots. Here is the best one out of a dozen I shot this evening

IMGP7509

I did like it but thought the foreground was a bit too dark, so I duplicated the layer, lightened it (levels adjustment) and added a layer mask. Just curious which one works better....

IMGP7509-2

EXIF is the same for both since they are the same shot

Camera: Pentax K100D
Exposure: 20 sec (20)
Aperture: f/6.3
Focal Length: 18 mm
ISO Speed: 200
Exposure Bias: 0/10 EV
Flash: Flash did not fire

Thanks,
Mike

I think its a matter of opinion, but I like the second one better. It almost has a scary feeling.

I think the second one shows more lines leading into the focal point. Nice work.

Thanks for taking the time to comment Naois and Desert Rose. I like the second better as well, but I might try to boost the saturation on the second one - when I looked at your replies this morning it struck me that I lost some with the levels adjustment...

Thanks,
Mike

I vote for the 2nd image. Seems like there is something looming up ahead.

That second image definately invokes a scary feel to the image in my opinion

Nice photo!

IMO, I think "which is better?" is a matter of what you want to evoke with the photo. If you want a spooky feeling and want to see everything, #2 is the winner. But if you want to really "see and feel" the colors in the fog, #1 is the way to go. Either way, it's a great shot!
