I still think this is a good idea but I'm sure the composition could be improved. I'm just not sure how.

I'll definitely have to go back and try again. Maybe get closer with a shorter FL?. Thanks for the advice.

as the previous poster said blur all details outside the belt or maybe make it black and white or both,lift or remove the rope as it distracting. an even amount of cropping around the belt . you could effectivitly make the view thorugh the belt a clear focus of colour whilst outside the belt is blurred and black and white.
