Default mountain scene

I took this over the summer and I did fix it up a little by adding a little bit of light and saturation. It's still kind of blah to me, what else could be done to it?

Default I like this shot

I like the inclusion of the foreground fence because it adds depth to the image. I wish that the foliage in the left corner was more abundant and framed the shot more than it does.

However it is a beautiful and relaxing view. Where was it taken?

The image sort of gives me the impression of the Great Smoky Mountains.

I think that the "blah" impresion derives from the mass of light colored sky which the sensor just couldn't catch. I would guess that the best way to gain definition in the sky but also retain the definition in the drker areas would have been to shoot 3 different exposures, over - right on - under, and blend them into an HDR image. Ofd course, using a tripod would be "almost" mandatory in shooting the three images so that they would blend correctly.

A tripod would be "completely" mandatory.

Even so, HDR will probably have a difficult time with the trees in on the mountain, but by taking those 3 exposures, you could use the underexposed shot, and mask in just the sky onto the normal foreground and get a much more natural look.
OR
Pick up a circular polarizer, and eliminate the digital enhancement all together!
