Default Newcastle (Australia)

Taken with a 400D looking from the Bogie hole back onto Newcastle Baths.
Post processing - played with contrast and saturation, other wise, as I took it. It has a fair bit of Saturation work, and this is the first image I have post processed which looked better than the original (so I'm proud).

EXIF:
Camera: Canon EOS 400D Digital
Exposure: 0.01 sec (1/100)
Aperture: f/14
Focal Length: 32 mm
ISO Speed: 400
Exposure Bias: 0/3 EV
Flash: Flash did not fire

What are your thoughts on the composition/framing?

Well, I'm not a professional by any means either...but I'll share my first reactions! At first, my eye is drawn directly to that big black shadow (so not a fan of that), but then my eye goes up to the coast line and follows it back to the city. So I like that part. So I guess maybe my suggestion would be to try a little cropping on the bottom?? Other than that, I love it. I think the colors are beautiful. It definitely makes me want to be there! Great job!

Maybe something like this? (sorry, I'm bored, so I tried a little crop. I didn't do anything else. )

Very Nice. Yeah I also do not like that shadow, but very nice colors in the water and also the clouds are that beautiful purple and green color over the city buildings! Just a little cropping and it would be perfect. Good job!

The shadow at the bottom of the frame is an "empty feature" - it draws the eye but doesn't seem to say anything (unless you are communicating that Newcastle is a big ole pit!).

I think some drastic cropping at the bottom is definitely in order - you could also mix that with trying to restore some detail in that dark triangle. If you take a scene like this using a tripod, consider taking a number of exposures, which gives you more sources for filling in the details (ie. along the lines of HDR work).
