Default Another Day in Paradise

Navajo Country

Nikon D70
Aperture f/14
ISO 200
SSpeed 1/200
Focal Length 40mm

If you can, drop everything, grab your camera and run (don't walk) to Northern Arizona/Southern Utah. Aaa...mazing! Don't forget your tripod.

This shot was taken on the northern side of Monument Valley. My goal, since joining the DPS community, is to wean myself off auto-focus. I only shot in Manual mode this trip. When I couldn't quite get it right, I would switch to the most basic jpeg file size, take a number of photos until I could find the right setting, then back to RAW. You do remember the song? You know--the Hokey, Pokey--"You put your aperture in, you put your shutter speed out, you put your ISO in and you shake it all about!"

I did receive the following note from Jiminy Clicket regarding this dancing: *DPS guidelines forbid the use of "Hokey-Pokey" and/or the shaking of one's "ISO" where small children, or adults with weak hearts and minds, may be present.

The "Hustle, Bump, and Funky Chicken" are acceptable, and the shaking of one's "Booty," tastefully, is allowed when not excessive (the shaking, not the booty).

Way to go Lindyanna for getting of off Auto! And yes you must be carefull with the Hokey Pokey, I've seen some injuries from that and they're not nice.

Billy,

May I call you my "Great Vistas" buddy? Never been to Bryce Canyon or Monument Valley for that matter. Imagine living in a place for 64 years and missing out on this kind of beauty!

Like you, I love the graduated levels color in these hills. I took a shot of something similar: www.flickr.com/photos/27932019@N07/2725663425/in/set-72157606467978280/ Thanks for your nice comment and sharing your photo.
