This photo was taken at Yosemite NP. I love the silhouette of the bushes and trees.

I just went out today and did some waterfall shots. They're not processed yet so here's a couple old favorites

Shine Falls Hawkes Bay NZ. I have posted this elsewhere and then came across this thread while searching for something else - hope I'm not breaking any rules posting twice.

Nice shot but nothing spectacular. The angle of view looks right where I would expect it, would have been perhaps more visually compelling to get a lower angle of view so that you had more depth and more of a three-dimensional quality.

Not sure how long your shutter speed was but the water doesn't have that "liquid silk" look that you might have been going for, might need a longer exposure to get that.

I have been on this strange kick lately where pretty landscapes and nature shots bore me to tears, I want to see something living in the shot, an animal or person as a point of reference or for scale. But that's my cross to bear, there are lots of great nature shots out there but they all look mostly alike to me. Nature is beautiful but I need something or someone to focus on besides, "oohhh, look, pretty nature."

Thanks for sharing,

I don't think this is critique - your "cross to bear" is just that, and not be vented on other posters. If landscape and nature bore you - maybe give it a rest, but don't criticise other's efforts.

I enjoy this shot. TFS

For your first time out, you did amazingly well! Love the pictures, TFS!

I had no idea how much I enjoy taking shots of waterfalls. Here's some of mine..
Since this is a Technique forum, I'll throw that in as well. I used AEB in my camera to make an HDR image. I had my camera set to AV mode, f stop to around 9, ISO to 100. Used Luminance to combine the layers and add 3 separate tonemapped images. Then used those 3 tone-mapped images in GIMP using layers. After that, some adjustments in layers and a small amount of unsharp mask.

Thanks for looking

How have I not seen this thread before now? Love waterfall shots and there are some very good ones here.
This is one of my favourite shots, in one of my favourite spots - the South Island High Country.
_MG_2089

The same place 18 months later after an avalanche came through and changed the scene completely. Even the really big rocks have been moved.
