Default Sunrise Over Thor's Hammer

Another HDR from Bryce:

3 exposure RAW HDR processed in Photomatix. The light fall off down Thor and the other red cliffs occurs naturally because the bottom is lit by reflected light off of cliffs behind the camera.

See it Large on Black.

Excellent job pinning the sun behind the rocks to catch the full effect without lens problems.

Hmm, I'm jealous, you all have things like that in easy reach, pretty soon you're going to have suffer through my HDR images off the overpass near my house!

Just don't get hit by a car setting up your tripod!

Utah is relatively close by, but this was still an 8 or 9 hour drive.

Glad you like the shot. There were actually a few photographers all trying to shoot from the same angle to get the sun lined up correctly, but everyone was very nice.

Thanks, Pinball! I thought the color contrast was nice too.

Gorgeous picture. When was this taken? I hate getting up early in the morning for sunrise pictures so hats off to you.

Only place I've been to in Utah was Moab for some mtn biking. I was too worried about staying on my bike and staying alive to take along a camera. I guess the pictures wouldn't have turned out very nice if I did have the camera because I couldn't catch my breath and was breathing so hard hehe.

Thanks, oldwolf. Sunrise was at 6:30, so this was about 6:40. I've been to Moab too, and it's really an amazing place. I don't do any biking myself, but some of my friends say it's the best anywhere.
