Default Does Anyone Know What These Are?

I was taking photos during the brightest part of the day. All of the other shots came out fine with the exception of two. They came out looking like this, with these vertical lines at the bottom of the photo. Do you know what caused these?

I have seen sun glare before but nothing like this.

Maybe it's my eyes but I don't see the lines you are talking about. Is there another example you can post?

Default Larger photo link

Here is a link to the larger image that you can really see them in.

Thanks for providing the larger image. The lines appear to extend higher on the right hand side as well. I am at a loss as to what is causing this. Have you experienced this with a different memory card or in other images before this set was taken? The EXIF data shows an unusual ISO of 119. Was the other image also shot at 1/1600 second? I am grasping at straws here.

I've never seen these lines either. Did you take shots after these two you were talking about? Did they look alright?

it looks like to me that the lines are running all the way thru the image. were you using a polarizer when you took these images? If so was it a circular polarizer or a linear one?

I think I remember reading about these lines that only appear when you take a shot a certain way. I really wish I could remember what they were called. Not very helpful, sorry...

If this really bugs you, start looking at some detailed technical reviews of the optics of different cameras and lenses. I think you'll eventually find what you're looking for there.

I agree with Rex. It appears that they go all the way through the photo. You just don't notice them that much in brighter areas. There also is something in the upper left corner.

Hm.
I really have no idea.
This is actually very odd.
I have never seen it before.

Like everyone else is saying, they go through the entire photo.
Maybe the memory card is damaged?
Lol.
I really don't know though.
I am kind of just saying stuff and hoping it is right.

ah, now i see it. the closest thing i can think of is some sort of banding. our S3IS's are infamous for banding on extreme contrast shots.
