Living in Ottawa - the tulips are phenomenal! The pregnant Queen of Holland had to be evacuated from Holland during World War II for her own safety, so the family came to Ottawa, Canada. The government designated a floor of a hospital here temporarily part of Holland, and her daughter (now the Queen) was born here.

To thank the Canadians for their hospitality they sent some amazing number of tulip bulbs. And forever the National Capital Commission has been planting, separating, replanting those bulbs (and adding to them) every spring. In May the Tulip Festival draws visitors from all over the earth.

These few are just from our own garden (the garden of my Dutch husband!)

Hi photokunstler, nice shots and nice story. Being Dutch I new about the stay of the Queen in Canada, but not about about the tulips.

And for your husband: Hallo meneer photokunstler, dat zijn een paar mooie tulpen! Groeten uit Haarlem

Default Practice

I stopped by the local botanical garden to practice some before tomorrow's trip. Didn't turn out too bad for handheld I thought. Does that large reflection/flare in the top middle detract from the photo?
