Sorry, my fault. Of course you are correct - wide aperture.

Thanks for all the advice.

I think I'm probably going to go for a zoom on the basis that I usually shoot landscape with a fairly small aperture on a tripod, so speed & weight aren't the most important factors, whereas the ability to easily compose the shot is, assuming of course that the zoom is suitably sharp enough.
