Default Thinking of Tokina 12-24mm f4

Hi -- I'm in the market for a wide angle lens -- I have a Canon 7D. I've been reading about the above lens and it sounds really good. I'm just wondering if this will give me the kind of shots I have in mind. It would be great if people could post pictures taken with this lens or direct me to a site where I can see some ... I'm not sure if I should go even wider, say to the 11-16mm f2.8 ...

Or if you have other wide angles that you absolutely love, please tell me! Thanks.

With such short focal lengths, a couple of millimeters can make quite a difference. For example, the difference in maximum viewing angle at 10 and 12 mm is 10 degrees. You can also check out Sigma 10-20 f4.5. There are numerous threads online about which WA lens is better, like this one: Sigma 10-20 vs. Tokina 11-16 vs. Tamron 10-24
Here's a photo illustrating the difference in viewing angle.

I recently picked up the Tokina 11-16mm and couldn't be happier with it. Beautiful color, tack sharp when you use it right, constant f2.8 and a nice solid heavy duty construction. I haven't played with the 12-24 but assuming that it is of the same standards I think perhaps you may want to look more into the 11-16 if your primary goal is landscape etc.

I can thoroughly recommend the Tokina 11-16mm lens as well. Beautifull constructed, sharp, inside focus and tele extension and great feel. At f/2.8 it's fairly fast as well whci can be a bonus for landscapes or anything else.

How about the Sigma 10-20 - wider range ... I'm just not sure it's as good a lens ... the Tokina 11-16 sounds great ...

I'm also after this Sigma. I've heard as many people satisfied and praising the Sigma as much as Tokina and some others WA lenses out there. Try reading some reviews and comparisons. Here are some links about the Sigma:
