SLR camera landscape for beaches, landscapes of sunny island

Hi

After spending hours walking around beaches taking photos, only to find most of them were very poor due to focus and long distances involved I'm looking for ideas on which SLR camera to buy for mainly outdoor photos, usually with good sunlight. Ideally I'd not spend too much, say 300 or 400 euros ($500ish). Even better if buying second hand would be a safe option.

Considering your level and experience. ANY of the major brands entry level SLR would be fine for you.
What, eventually, you'll want to consider more is what lens to buy. But to be honest, starting off as you are, you'll be fine with an entry level body and the standard 18-55mm kit lens. And a tripod. If you like landscapes, a tripod is a must.

Then, once you get some experience and learn your camera/lens you'll want to start thinking of a dedicated landscape lens.

Right now, get a basic camera, learn the basics, and shoot shoot shoot!

Sounds great, thanks for the advice! What price point should I be looking at for entry level? I'm looking at Canon PowerShot SX10 IS Digital Camera which I can get used for around €200 on Amazon.

The PowerShots are not DSLRs. I would check this thread - new to photography. ready to buy DSLR
