I'm making my way over there in may and was wondering if anyone had any specific tips about this location.
My biggest concern at the moment is if i need to bring a tripod. I have a gorilla pod for my dslr. I plan to go to Lipan Point during sunrise. So I will definitely need a good surface with a good view of the grand canyon. Has anyone attempted this without a large professional tripod? Wondering if I should rent one or not. I'd rather save the money if its not needed. |

I really can't help you with tips on the location itself, but you can try searching for photos of that place, for example on Flickr: Lipan Point - Flickr: Search
Since you plan on shooting at sunrise, you're probably going to need a tripod. Perhaps you will be able to use some rocks to place your camera on them, but that can be very tricky and limiting. I would definitely either buy or rent a tripod. |

You'll need a tripod for low light pictures as you'll want to shoot at a high f-stop to capture more landscape in focus.
