Default Driftwood and stones.

3-28-08 008
I saw this interesting piece of driftwood at our local pond the other day and thought it worthy of a shot. I'm not sure about the composition, but overall, I like the image. If anyone has any critiques or comments, I'd love hearing them. Thanks.

There are some interesting textures to this shot: the rough driftwood, the smoothstones, the rippling water. Did you take this picture around noon? The lighting seems bright and that has a tendency to bleach out some of your detail.

It was just past noon, and I didn't have my camera bag with the Polarizing filter in it, with me. The sun wasn't even out when I left the house an hour earlier. I was carrying the small one I use for hiking. I guess I need some duplicate lenses. I tried to darken the contrast up a bit in GIMP. The image I posted is much better than the original. I may go back and pick up the driftwood. I do woodburning and woodcarving when I'm not taking pictures, so I may get an opportunity to shoot this piece again. Thanks for your comments.
