Exposing for overcast

I had a question on how to expose for an overcast day such as today here in Texas. I wanted to try and take some shots outside today but when i look at some of the pictures i've taken so far it appears that the sky is just way to dull and the land is dark or vice versa. What could i do to over come this obstacle?

slightly overexpose you images manually or set your exposure compensation up to over expose the image slightly.

Bracket your shots and use photoshop to fuse them.

Actually, I was hoping to see some more answers here, but I've found a few articles on what to do with overcast days that may be helpful:

Thank you for the articles. This should get out of the landscape mode and start heading in the more public places to get diff' shots other then landscape and cityscape.

An alternative is try to shoot B&W. I think it is better than dealing with the dull sky...
